On 4th May 2000 we
received the following letter from an English customer who bought a complete set
of building plans of our design no. 459 FORNA 37 in round bilge glass-fibre wood
core construction: Dear
Van de Stadt Design Team,
I purchased the plans for hull number 43 for Forna 37 about 2 years ago.
You were very kind in providing me with information and help to decide whether
to choose the Forna 37.
Since August have been cruising in my boat which I am very pleased to
have chosen.
Last month I went aground in Dominican Republic on hard sand and rocks
during an unexpected south west wind. We grounded hard on its keel and rudder
for 12 hours before we were towed off, hitting several rocks hard on the way.
The boat has been lifted out and the only damage was a split at the
bottom of the rudder which was easily repaired. There are not even any hairline
cracks around the floors bulkheads and rudder bearings. The helm feels the same
as before.
I thought I would write to thank you for designing a boat which is so
strong as well as fast. Many
people comment how good looking the boat is too. I
hope this will be of interest. Kind
regards, David |
