The AGARI is popular with competition sailors who, for relatively little money, have a chance of taking the first prize in a field of larger ships. The secret lies in the exceptionally low weight combined with the dimensions of larger yachts. Beam and waterline give the impression of a length of 45 to 48 foot.
A light yacht such as the AGARI requires relatively little sail and consequently lighter gear. The ballast is less than 3 tons. A matter which reduces costs. The interior is simple and functional. The coach-roof is kept small. Those needing more headroom can adapt the height. But large alterations disturb this design for pure racing pleasure.
